EXPLANATION:

Millions of households depend on food products from forests to include in their diets. Forest products such as fruits, nuts, vegetables, cooking oils, beverages make critical contribution to our daily food supply and intake. The five key reasons that make forest important for our existence are,

  • Forests release oxygen for us to live and breathe and absorb the carbon dioxide that we exhale
  • Trees that grow in forests are useful to beat the heat. They absorb carbn dioxide which fuels global warming.
  • Large forests influence weather patterns and create their micro-climates.
  • Forests provide us a wealth of resources such as natural medicines, food products, natural resources, and products such as wood/timber, among others for making essential things
  • More than '1.6 billion' people depend on forests for their livelihoods, and around '10 million people' are directly hired in forest conservation or management.
