Find P.D across each resistance and current passing through each resistance in following circuit:
R1=5.5 ohm
R2=5
R3=20ohm
R4=0.5ohm
V=60volts

Given:-

  • R1=5.5Ω
  • R2=5Ω
  • R3=20Ω
  • R4=.5Ω
  • Potential difference=60V

To find:-

  • Current through each resistance

Solution:-

First let's find out total resistance of circuit :-

 R_eq = R1 + (\frac{1}{R2}+\frac{1}{R3})^{-1} +R4

 R_eq = 5.5Ω+ (\frac{1}{5}+\frac{1}{20})^{-1} +.5Ω

 R_eq = 6Ω

Now we need to find current in the whole circuit

V=IR

60=Ix6. I=10A

Now We will find out current in each resistor

In R1 and R4 current will be 10A as they both are in series. But in R2 and R3 current will divide in ratio R2:R3

Hence

R2:R3 = 1:4

In R2 =2A

In R2=8A
