Take the isosceles sides as x
this means
(12)²= x²+x²
144= 2x²
x²= 72

here x is the base and height of the right angled triangle and the hypotenuse 12cm is already given.
Area of triangle will be 1/2xbasexheight
= 1/2x✓72x✓72 = 1/2x72 = 36cm²
