Answer:

The answer is 68 square cm

Step-by-step explanation:

We can find its area bu dividing the diagrams into 3 parts,

triangles ABC and GHF and

rectangle AHED.

Length of HF => GH squared = FG squared + FH squared

[PYTHAGORAS THEOREM USED]

5^2=4^2+x^2

25=16+x^2

x^2=25-16=9

x=square root 9=3cm

FH=3cm

As, AB=HG=5cm and BC=FG=4cm, we can say that AC=FH=3cm

Area of triangle HFG= 1/2 * base * height

1/2 * 4cm * 3cm = 6 square cm

Area of triangle ABC = Area of triangle HFG

Now,

HE= HF+FE=4cm+3cm=7cm

HE=AD=7cm

Area of rectangle AHED = length*breadth

=8cm*7cm

=56 square cm

Area of whole diagram= Area of triangle ABC + Area of triangle HFG + Area of rectangle AHED

=(6+6+56) square cm

=68 square cm

Hope it helps...
