area of shaded region =area of rectangle - area of small triangle-area of big triangle

                              =18cm x 10cm

                               =180 cmsq.

area of small triangle = 1/2 x bh    ( here b=10,h=6)

                                   =1/2 x 6 x 10

                                   =30 cmsq.

area of big triangle = 1/2 x b x h      (here b=8,h=10)
