Find the area of the isosceles triangle whose each of the equal sides is 7.4 cm and the base is 6.2 cm.

Answer:

Given : Isosceles triangle - Side 1 = Side 2 = 7.4 cm

                                            Side 3 = 6.2 cm

When three sides are known Area = \sqrt{S (S-a)*(S-b)*(S-c)}

Where S is semi perimeter = (a+b+c)/2

So here S = (7.4+7.4+6.2)/2 = 10.5 cm

Area of triangle = \sqrt{10.5*(10.5-7.4)*(10.5-7.4)*(10.5-6.2)}

                             = 20.83 cm^2
