i think the answer should be
14 (sqr) - (16 π +4 )

on solving
196 - 54.24 = 141.76.

waRRi0r: we have 4 semicircles = 4 * (2π)
waRRi0r: = 8π
waRRi0r: while cutting a semicircle we create a smaller sqaure at center of the fig
waRRi0r: this smaller sqr each side will be equal to diameter of a semicircle
waRRi0r: that is 4 cm
waRRi0r: so the area of the center smaller square = 4^2 = 16
waRRi0r: so the total unshaded would be all semicircle area and this center smaller area
waRRi0r: which is = 8π + 16
waRRi0r: for shaded part deduct this from entire area we calculated that is 196
waRRi0r: so 196 - (8π +16)
