Given :-

  • The cylindrical vesel of height 1m and diameter 140cm.

To find :-

  • Area of the sheet required to make closed cylindrical vessel

Solution :-

  • Height of cylinder (h) = 1 m

  • Diameter of cylindrical vessel = 140 cm

  • Radius of cylinder vessel (r) = Diameter/2 = 140/2 = 70 cm

As we know that

  • 1m = 100cm

→ Radius of cylindrical vessel = 70cm

So, divide it by 100 to convert cm into m

→ Radius = 70/100 = 0.7 m

It is given that find area of closed cylindrical vessel means we have to find whole area of cylinder

Total surface area of cylinder

→ curved surface area of cylinder + area of two circles

→ 2πrh + 2πr²

Take 2πr as a common

→ 2πr(h + r)

→ 2 × 22/7 × 0.7(1 + 0.7)

→ 2 × 22 × 0.1 × 1.7

→ 44 × 0.17

→ 7.48 m²

Hence,

  • Area required to make closed cylindrical vessel = total surface area of cylinder = 7.48m²

Step-by-step explanation:

It is given that diameter of cylindrical vessel is 140 cm

  • Diameter = 140 cm

Therefore,

Radius of cylindrical vessel = 140/2 = 70 cm

Now,

Converting the cm in m we get,

  • 70 cm = 70/100 = 0.7 m

And it is also given that height of cylindrical vessel is 1 m

  • Height = 1 m

According to question now,

Area of sheet required = TSA of cylinder

=> 2πr (r + h)

=> 2 × 22/7 × 0.7 (0.7 + 1)

=> 4.4 × 1.7

=> 7.48 m²

Therefore, Area required to make closed cylindrical vessel is 7.48 m².
