The rate has been measured in terms of per Metre square meaning we will use the surface area. That is the total surface area covered by the pit.

Since the pit is an open cuboid then the area covered is the total surface area of a cuboid.

Total S. A=(8×6)+(2×6×3)+(2×8×3)=132m2

The total cost=30×132=3960

Answer:

Rs 4320

Step-by-step explanation:

l = 8 m, b = 6 m, h = 3 m

volume of Cuboidal pit = l ^ b^ h

                                     = ( 8^ 6^ 3) m3

                                     = 144 m3

cost of digging 1 m3 = Rs 30

cost of 144 m3 = Rs ( 144^ 30)

                         = Rs 4320

:':  cost of digging the pit is Rs 4320
