answer : y = 8

slope of equation of line { x = 5 } , m = ∞ or 1/0

a/c to question, required line is perpendicular to the line , x = 5.

so, slope of required line × slope of {x = 5} = -1

or, slope of required line × 1/0 = -1

or, slope of required line = 0

required line is passing through the point (5,8)

so, equation of line is.. (y - 8) = 0(x - 5)

hence, equation of line is y = 8

Answer:

The equation of the line perpendicular to line x = 5 is line y = 8.

Step-by-step explanation:

Find the equation of the line perpendicular to the line x=5, passing through the point (5,8).

The slope of the line x = 5 is undefined because its graph is vertical.

Thus, the slope of the line perpendicular to the line x = 5 is zero because its graph is horizontal.

Using the Point-Slope Form,

y - y₁ = m (x - x₁)   Substitute the given point (5, 8) for (x₁, y₁) and 0 for slope (m).

y - 8 = 0 (x - 5)   Apply Distributive Property of Multiplication over Subtraction.

y - 8 = 0 - 0

y - 8 = 0

y - 8 + 8 = 0 + 8   Applying APE (Addition Property of Equality)

y = 8

Thus, the equation of the line perpendicular to line x = 5 is line y = 8.
