hey

Find the HCF of x²-1 and x³-1

(1) x²-1

= (x+1)(x-1)

(2)(x³-1)

= (x-1)(x²+1-x)

take common factor

= (x-1)

so,

HCF of (x²-1) and (x³-1). will be

= (x-1)

We must recall that:

HCF or Highest Common Factor is the greatest number that divides each of the two or more numbers. HCF is also called the Greatest Common Measure (GCM) and Greatest Common Divisor(GCD).

x^2-1=(x+1)(x-1)\\x^3-1=(x-1)(x^2+x-1)\\

HCF of (x^2-1) and (x^3-1)=(x-1)
