28 = 2 × 2 × 7

common factors are = 2 × 2 = 4

hcf = 4

by Euclid's division algorithm :

28 = 16×1 + 12

16 = 12×1 + 4

12 = 4 × 3 + 0

HCF(16,28) = 4
