The hybridization of C in –CH3 is sp3
In case of Si its ground state configuration is 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p2
This is also showung tetravalent state its hybridized state configuration will be
1s2 2s2 2p6 [3s1 3px1 3py1 3pz1] as one e- is promoted from 4s to 3pz to produce 4 unpaired e – available for making bonds.
Si can also be found in sp3 hybrid state so the structure will be tetrahedral
