Find the inverse of the function f(x) = x - 5

[tex]{\blue{\underline{\underline{\bold{Answer:-}}}}}[tex]

f(x) = x-5

x - 5 = 0

x = 5

The inverse of x = 5 is x= -5

The inverse function of f(x)= x -5 is for x =-5

The inverse of the function f(x) = x - 5 is x + 5

Given:

f(x) = x - 5

To find:

Find the inverse of the function f(x) = x - 5

Solution:

Inverse of the function:

An inverse function of a function is a function which returns the original value for the given output. If f(x) gives output y, then the inverse function of y, i.e. f⁻¹(y) will return the value x.

Given function f(x) = x - 5 then the inverse of f(x) = f⁻¹(x)

To find inverse of f(x), take y = x -5

⇒ y = x - 5

⇒ x = y + 5

Here y + 5 = f⁻¹(y)

Now interchange y with x

⇒ f⁻¹(y) = f⁻¹(x) = x + 5

Therefore, the inverse function of f(x) = x - 5 is x + 5
