Inverse of the function y=2x-5 will be  y = (x + 5)/2

Given:

function y=2x-5

To Find:

Inverse of the function

Solution:

y = 2x - 5

f(x) = 2x - 5

rearrange y = 2x - 5 for x

y + 5 = 2x

(y + 5)/2  = x

=>  x = (y + 5)/2

Interchange x and y for inverse function

=> y = (x + 5)/2

=> f⁻¹(x) = (x + 5)/2

Inverse of the function will be y = (x + 5)/2
