largest no. that could divide 58 and 85 and leave a remainder 4 is:
HCF(58-4) and HCF(85-4)
=HCF(54 and 81)=27
Therefore, the largest number that divides the both number is 27.

Given:

Two numbers 58 and 85

To Find:

The largest no that divides both 58 and 85 leaving a remainder of 4 in each case

Solution:

To find the number which will leave the remainder 4

We have to subtract 4 from both the numbers

58-4 = 54

85-4 = 81

Now, we have to find the H.C.F (Highest Common Factor) of both the numbers

Let us factorize both the numbers

54 = 2×3×3×3

81 = 3×3×3×3×3×3

H.C.F = 3×3×3

         = 27

Hence, the largest no that divides both 58 and 85 leaving a remainder of 4 is 27.
