The answer to the question is 10 kg i.e the mass of the object is 10 kg.

CALCULATION:

As per the question, the weight of the object w = 98 N.

We are asked to calculate the mass of the object.

Quantitatively the weight of an object is  defined as the product of mass and acceleration due to gravity.

Mathematically weight w = m×g

Here, g is the acceleration due to gravity and m is the mass of the body.

The acceleration due to gravity on the surface of earth is g =\ 9.8\ m/s^2

Hence, weight of the object  w= m×g

                                          ⇒  m=\ \frac{w}{g}

                                                 =\frac{98N}{9.8\ m/s^2}

                                                 =\ 10\ kg        [ans]

Hence, the mass of the object is 10 kg.
