{(n + 1) ÷ 2}th value, where n is the number of values in a set of data.

In order to calculate the median, the data must first be ranked (sorted in ascending order). The median is the number in the middle.

Median = the middle value of a set of ordered data

Ans:

Ascending order: 12, 12, 23, 23, 32, 32, 32, 65, 65, 89, 98, 122, 124

Then, using the following formula, figure out which value is the middle value. Remember that n represents the number of values in the data set.

Median = {(n + 1) ÷ 2}th value

= {(13 + 1) ÷ 2}

= 7

The seventh value in the data set will be the median. Since 32 is the seventh value, 32 is the median of this data.
