Solution :

_____________________________________________________________

Given :

To find the probability of not getting one tail when a coin is tossed thrice,.

_____________________________________________________________

We know that,

when a coin is tossed the possible out comes are :

i) Head

&

ii) Tail,.

So,  number of possible outcomes n(s) = 2,.

⇒ Hence, when the coin is tossed thrice,.

The number of outcomes are : (2)³ = 2 x 2 x 2 = 8 ⇒ n(S) = 8

All of the 8 possible outcomes are :

⇒ {Head, Head, Head}

⇒ {Head, Head, Tail}

⇒ {Head, Tail, Head}

⇒ {Head,Tail, Tail}

⇒ {Tail, Head, Head}

⇒ {Tail, Head, Tail}

⇒ {Tail, Tail, Head}

⇒ {Tail, Tail, Tail}

Let P(A) be the probability of an event of not getting one tail (when a coin is tossed thrice) = number of favorable outcomes / Total number of Possible outcomes

 \frac{n(A)}{n(S)}

⇒   \frac{8 - 3}{8}     (As there are three possibilities of getting one tail and 2 heads),.

 \frac{5}{8}
