 Given \: points \: X(2,-1) \:and \: Y(0,4)

 Let \: X(2,-1) = (x_{1} , y_{1}) \:and

 Y(0,4) = (x_{2} , y_{2}) \:and

 \red{ Slope \: of \:a \:line \: that \: contains}

 \red{the \: points \: X \: and \: Y }

 m = \frac{y_{2} - y_{1}}{x_{2} - x_{1}}

 = \frac{ 4 - (-1) }{ 0 - 2 }

 = \frac{ 4 + 1 }{-2}

 = \frac{-5}{2}

Therefore.,

 \red{ Slope \: of \: line \:XY } \green{ = \frac{-5}{2}}
