Given,

a= first term = -37

an = nth term

d= common difference

=> -33 -(-37) , -29-(-33)

=> -33+37 , -29+33

=> 4

n = no. of terms = 12

thus,

Sn = n/2 [2a+( n-1) d]

Sn = 12/2 [ 2× (-37) + 11× 4]

Sn = 6[-74 + 44]

=> 6[-30]

=> -180

alternative method:

an = a + (n-1) d

an = -37 + (11)4

an = -37 + 44 = 7

Sn = n/2 [a + an]

Sn = 12/2 [ -37 +7]

=> 6[-30]

=> -180
