Question:

Find the total surface area of hemisphere of radius 7cm. ( use π = 22/7 ).

Answer:

462 cm^2

Note:

• The half of a sphere is known as hemisphere.

• A hemisphere has a curved surface and a flat surface.

• The total surface area of the hemisphere of radius "r" is given by, T.S.A. = 3•π•r^2 .

• The curved surface area of the hemisphere of radius "r" is given by, C.S.A. = 2•π•r^2 .

Solution:

The given radius of the hemisphere is 7 cm.

Also,

We know that,

The total surface area of the hemisphere of radius "r" is given by, T.S.A. = 3•π•r^2 .

Hence,

The total surface area of the given hemisphere of radius "7 cm" will be given by;

=> T.S.A. = 3•π•(7 cm)^2

=> T.S.A. = 3•(22/7)•(7•7) cm^2

=> T.S.A. = 3•22•7 cm^2

=> T.S.A. = 462 cm^2

Hence,

The required total surface area of the given hemisphere is 462 cm^2 .
