Please take a look at the attached diagram, since angle CAB is 30° CA = 2cm and BC = 1cm. By Pythagoras Theorem, we can calculate AB as follows:
CA² = AB² + BC²
2² = AB² + 1²
Hence AB = √3
Now cos∅ = base ÷ hypotenuse
Therefore cos30° = (√3)/2

Hence AB = √3
Now cos∅ = base ÷ hypotenuse
Therefore cos30° = (√3)/2
