Find the value of k for which the system of equations 2kx + 5y – 10 = 0 and 8x + 5ky – 8 = 0 has unique solution.

here,

changing equation in matrix form we get:

2k 5 x =10

8 5k y 8

for unique solution determinant must be zero.

so,

(2k*5k)-(8*5)=0

or, 10k^2 - 40=0

or, k^2=40/10

or, k^2=4

or,k=+-2

Hence value of k is 2..
