-x+y=10

=> -(4-y)+y=10

=> -4+y+y=10

=> -4+2y=10

=> 2y=14

=> y=14/2

=> y=7

now putting the value of y in equation (1) we get

x+y=4

x+7=4

x=4-7

x= -3

therefore x=-3 and y= 7
