What is a zero ?

A zero is the value of x for which f ( x ) = 0

f ( x ) = x² - 5 x + 6

==> x² - 5 x + 6 = 0

==> x² - 2 x - 3 x + 6 = 0

==> x ( x - 2 ) - 3 ( x - 2 ) = 0

==> ( x - 2 )( x - 3 ) = 0

Either :

x - 2 = 0

==> x = 2

or :

x - 3 = 0

==> x = 3

The zeroes are 2 and 3

Hope it helps :-)
