find two numbers such that one of them exceeds the other by 18 and other sum is 92

Hi ,

Let x , ( x + 18 ) are the numbers

Their sum = 92

x + x + 18 = 92

2x = 92 - 18

2x = 74

x = 74/2

x = 37

Therefore ,

Required numbers are ,

x = 37 ,

x + 18 = 37 + 18 = 55
