Newton's laws of motion:
- The object remains to be at rest or in uniform motion unless an external unbalanced force acts upon it.
- The rate of change of momentum is proportional to the force applied. The momentum is towards the direction of applied force.
- Every action has equal and opposite reaction acting simultaneously.

▶ Sir Newton gives three laws of motion.
- An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.
- The force acting on an object is equal to the mass of that object times its acceleration.
- For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
