Given that,. (x-5)=3(y-5)......(1)

10 years later,.

(x+10)=2(y+10)........(2)

From (2),

x+10=2y+20

Or, x-2y=10......(3)

From(1),. x-5 =3y-15

Or, x-3y= -10........(4)

Subtracting (4) from (3), we get

y=20.

Putting this value of y in equn (3), we get

x= 50

Therefore, required product (xy) = 20×50

= 1000.
