Answer: 30 cups of coffee

Given: It is given that for ₹600 Mr. Karan can buy a maximum of 24 cups of tea and for ₹1000 he can buy a maximum of 15 cups of coffee.

To Find: The maximum number of cups of coffee that he can purchase with the remaining money if had initially ₹2200 in his pocket and he had bought 8 cups of tea with it.

Step-by-Step Explanation: To calculate the price of a cup of tea or coffee, we will divide the total amount of rupees with the maximum number of cups of tea or coffee that he can purchase and ignore the remainder if any. We ignore the remainder because we need the number of full cups that he can purchase with that amount of rupees therefore we are interested in quotient only and not remainder.

Step 1: Calculating the price of a cup of tea:

We will divide ₹600 by the maximum number of cups of tea that he can purchase i.e., 24 cups of tea.

\frac{600}{24}=25

Therefore, one cup of tea costs ₹25.

Step 2:  Calculating the price of a cup of coffee:

We will divide ₹1000 by the maximum number of cups of coffee that he can purchase i.e., 15 cups of tea.

\frac{1000}{15}

It will give the quotient 66 and remainder is 10

The quotient will be the price of a cup of coffee and remainder is amount money that he will be left with after the maximum number of cups of coffee.

Therefore, one cup of coffee costs ₹66.

Step 3: It is given that he has ₹2200 in his pocket.

He purchases 8 cups of tea with it, therefore the amount he spends is25*8=200

Now, he is left with 2200-200=2000

Now, if we divide the remaining amount with the price of a cup of coffee, the quotient will give us the maximum number of cups that he can purchase, and we will ignore the remainder.

\frac{2000}{66}

The quotient will be 30 and the remainder will be 20.

Therefore, the maximum number of cups that he can purchase will be 30.
