Given:

  • 4 resistors of 10 ohm are connected to form a square.

  • The terminals are two points on one side.

To find:

  • Equivalent resistance?

Calculation:

With the given terminals, we can say that three resistances (each of 10 ohm) are in series combination.

Net resistance = 10 + 10 + 10 = 30 ohm.

And this combination is in parallel combination to 10 ohm.

So, equivalent resistance :

 \dfrac{1}{R}  =  \dfrac{1}{30}  +  \dfrac{1}{10}

 \implies \dfrac{1}{R}  =  \dfrac{1 + 3}{30}

 \implies \dfrac{1}{R}  =  \dfrac{4}{30}

 \implies R  =  \dfrac{30}{4}

 \implies R  = 7.5 \: ohm

So, net resistance of circuit is 7.5 ohm (option 4)
