To make x the subject is to have a singular x on the Left-Hand-Side of the equation with x appearing as part of the Right-Hand-Side of the equation.

Question:

\dfrac{2x+3}{5}=y

Multiply by 5 on both sides:

2x + 3 = 5y

Subtract 3 from both sides:

2x = 5y - 3

Divide both sides by 2:

x = \dfrac{5y - 3}{2}
