Step-by-step explanation:

Total Length of the rope = 8 ⅖

Length of the first piece cut off = 1 ⅕

Length of the first piece cut off = 1 ⁷/10

Total length cut out off the rope = 1 ⅕ + 1 ⁷/10

= 1 ²/10 + 1 ⁷/10

= 2 ⁹/10

(Since LCM of 5,10 is 10 ,

so we converted the denominator

to 10 and also changing the numerator

by the time we multipled the denominator

of that fraction)

Therefore , length of remaining portion of the rope = 8⅖ - 2 ⁹/10

= 8 ⁴/10 - 2 ⁹/10

= 7 ¹⁴/10 - 2 ⁹/10

= 5 ⁵/10

= 5 ½

(Since LCM of 5,10 is 10 ,

so we converted the denominator

to 10 and also changing the numerator

by the time we multipled the denominator

of that fraction)

Ans:- The length of the remaining portion of rope is 5 ½
