The length of the pipe that is left is 26 m 50 cm

Given:

From of roll of plastic pipe which is 80 m 70 cm long two plastic pipes of length measuring 15m 32cm and 38m 97cm are cut off.

To find:

The length of pipe left after cutting

Solution:

Condition used:

1 meter = 100 cm

1 cm = 0.01 meters

Here we have

Length of pipe = 80 m 70 cm

As we know 1 meter = 100 cm

=> 80 meter = 80 × 100 = 8000 cm

Total length of the pipe in cm = 8000 cm + 70 cm = 8070 cm

Given that two plastic pipes of length measuring 15m 32cm and 38m 97cm are cut off.

Here

15 m 32 cm = 15 × 100 cm + 23 cm = 1523 cm

38 m 97 cm = 38 × 100 cm + 97 cm = 3897 cm

Total length of the pipe that is cut

= 1523 cm + 3897 cm

= 5420 cm

Then remaining pipe length =  8070 cm - 5420 cm

= 2650 cm

Here

2650 cm = 2650/100 meter = 26.5 m = 26 meter 50 cm

Therefore,

The length of the pipe that is left is 26 m 50 cm
