Answer:

The poet, Robert Frost, takes the side of the people who believe that the world will be completely destroyed by fire. Frost interconnects fire with desire, lust, anger and greed, etc. Being consistent, Frost explains desire as powerful and may lead to a quick end. Furthermore, the very fact that the poet has had personal experience with desire, leads him to first conclude that the planet will end in fire. Also, the poet points towards insensitivity, hatred, coldness, etc. from his usage of 'ice'. Thus, according to poet, the destruction via hatred and coldness will be far worse than a quick end caused by desire and greed.
