The Munro scheme was also known as the method of ryotwari. It was between the peasants and the revenue officials. This was introduced in 1820. the Munro system the farmer was declared as the owner of the land. The company made an income settlement straightforwardly with the peasants i.e. the duties were legitimately gathered from the farmers. Before Captain Alexander read it on a small scale, it was attempted and expanded by Thomas Munro. Munro felt that the British Should serve as parental father figures protecting the riots under control. It was established in 1820 by Thomas Munro, and the mechanism became known as the Munro Method. It was attempted on a small scale by Alexandra Read, the captain. Thomas Munro, the governor of Madras, subsequently established this method, which was eventually expanded across India.

We know that, If they failed to pay the taxes, they were evicted by the government. The revenue was fixed at half the value of the crop. And It was fixed for a period of 30 years.

know more : The tax authorities were seeking too much revenue under the current Munro method of fixing revenue. The peasants could not fulfill this demand. Consequently, in many areas, the peasants fled the countryside and villages were abandoned. The prices were high and they were open to being raised, unlike the Permanent Scheme.
