G. Distinguish between the following.
1. Multiples and submultiples of metre.

  1. Multiples are the units of measurements which are bigger than the meter. They are the decameter, hectometer, and the kilometer. There are more, but right now we are only going to look at these. Submultiples are the units of measurement which are smaller than the meter.
  2. The time from a midnight to coming midday is called antemeridian. It is written in short as a.m. We say the time between midnight and noon is called a.m. The time between 12 o'clock of the day, i.e., midday to next midnight is known as postmeridian. It is written in short as p.m.
  3. Clinical Thermometer is meant for clinical purposes. It is developed for measuring the human body temperature. A laboratory thermometer, which is colloquially known as the lab thermometer, is used for measuring temperatures other than the human body temperature.
  4. Celsius scale, or centigrade scale, is a temperature scale that is based on the freezing point of water at 0°C and the boiling point of water at 100°C. Fahrenheit scale is a temperature scale that is based on the freezing point of water at 32°F and the boiling point of water at 212°F.
