==>> In modern 5 kingdom system of classification blue green algae are placed in Kingdom monera, protista algae ( unicellular eukaryotic algal group such as diatoms, dinoflagellates and) are placed in Kingdom protista and green algae,

==>> brown algae and red - Lage are placed in Kingdom plantae.

==>> form and size of algae is highly variable and ranges from microscopic unicellular forms like chlamydomonas and chlorella to colonial forms like Volvox.

==>> some algae are epiphytic i.e. grow on branches of tree e.g. oedogonium.

==>> some epizoic forms like protoderma grow on back of tortoise and cladophora lives upon snail.

==>> some green Algae like trebouxia live symbiotically with fungi in lichens.

==>> cladophora live in symbiotic relationship with a sponge.
