Ionic compounds have high electrostatic force of attraction among the cations and anions which requires tremendous amount of energy to break. So, they have high melting points.
Hope this helped you.

HEY MATE !!!!
This is because of the strong attractive electrostatic forces holding the oppositely charged ions together and a large number of ionic bonds in the crystal lattice. These require a lot of thermal energy to overcome and hence have both high melting and boiling points
HOPE YOU'VE FOUND IT INFORMATIVE!!!!
PLEASE MARK AS BRAINLIEST!!!
THANKS!
