Force is that external cause which when acted upon a body, can change its state of motion or state of rest. Unless any external force is applied on a body, the body will continue its original state of rest or motion.

Sometimes the direction of applied force is at an angle with a horizontal surface, which represents, F is acting as an angle theta with the horizontal plane. So, that time work done = F.d cosθ

First of all, by following Newton's second law of motion, we know, F = m a

I am sure you know all the meanings of the letters I have used.

Let us see the steps :-

\bold{STEP\:\:1}

F = m × a = m × g = (1×10) N = 10 N

\bold{STEP\:\:2}

Now, Work done (W) = F.d cosθ

= (10×1×cos 60°) Joule

= (10×0.5) Joule

= 5 Joules [REQUIRED ANS.]
