The six major control of climate are
.Latitude- Due to the curvature of the Earth, the amount of solar energy received varies according to latitude. As a result, air temperature decreases from the equator towards the poles, which in turn determines the climate of a place,
.Altitude- As one goes from the surface of the earth to higher altitudes, the atmosphere becomes less dense and temperature decreases, which in turn affects the climate.
.The Pressure and Wind system- This system depends upon the latitude and altitude of a place. The pressure and Wind system exerts a profound influence on the climate of any place as it controls the temperature and rainfall pattern.- Upper air circulation winds, western disturbances, tropical cyclones, monsoons etc. govern the climate and associated weather conditions in India.
.Distance from the Sea-The sea exerts moderating influence on climate, regions near sea experiences moderate climate.- Temperature remains uniform at Mumbai throughout the year where as at Delhi winter and summer temperature vary from 50C to 450C.
.Ocean currents-These along with on shore winds affect the climate of a place, e.g., warm currents along the coastal region of India influence the climate of the adjoining areas.
.Relief Features- It also plays an important role in determining the climate of a place. High mountains act as barriers for hot or cold winds. They may also cause precipitation if they are high enough and stand in the path of rain-bearing winds.Himalayas donot allow the cold winds from Central Asia to enter India, neither allows monsoon winds to cross India.
