I am usually not good at ordering starters at restaurants as I am not that foodie and I rely mostly on what my wife orders as she is good at it and knows what I might like! So, she does the ordering and I do the eating. Just to keep me known she tells me what we have ordered.
That I believe explains my involvement and attentiveness during the process of placing the orders.
So, that evening I went to this fine dining restaurant with my friends for birthday party. We decided that one person will order a dish each so that we all get to eat our share of favorite dishes. Everyone ordered and finally it was my turn. Without looking into the menu card, I smiled at the person taking orders and said,
‘ Paneer 36 dry please!’ I like paneer a lot I said looking at my friends grinning. The waiter looked puzzled as he further added,
‘I am sorry sir but we don’t have Paneer 36!’ Still smiling.
‘How’s that possible, I have eaten it the last time I was here with my wife. Please check with someone here!’ I said with full confidence.
‘Yes sir I understand but we don’t have it, in fact we have never had any such dish till date!’ He said while he was still composed and trying hard to curtail his laughter. I was losing my patience and insisted on having the same dish as two other waiters and the manager came to our table from the counter. They all were trying to convince me that no such dish exists. The manager finally suggested an idea that would have helped us solve the problem.
‘I am sorry sir, but may I request you to call up madam (my wife) and check what exact dish was that so that we can cater to your requirement.’ Upon hearing this my friends compelled me call immediately as I was creating quite a scene at the restaurant and people sitting on the adjacent tables were looking at me in particular giggling. So finally I called my wife.
‘Yaar what was the Paneer starter that we had ordered last time we were here?’ (name of the restaurant)
‘Oh that was Paneer 65, why what happened?’
‘Oh come on wasn’t that Paneer 36?’ I said hiding my embarrassment.
‘Dude, no such dish exists, don’t ever say that to any waiter there or you will be a joke throughout the restaurant.’ She said.
‘It’s too late for that I said and hung up!’
Now was the time to face the heat. I looked up at the manager and two waiters including the person taking the order and said with a very embarrassed face,
‘I am so sorry for all the confusion and creating an unnecessary scene but it was not Paneer 36, in fact it never was. It’s actually Paneer 65. Could you please get that for us?’
Upon hearing this, all my friends and the hotel staff nearby burst into a laughter further adding to my embarrassment.

Following his usual chores,one day he got up at 4 pm. He stepped out of his home wearing a suit. He had carried his wallet with him which had fourteen rupees which was his life time saving.He had entered a crowded restaurant eating a full meal consisting of meat and chappati and tea. The bill came to eleven annas, He put his hand in his coat and realized that he had lost his wallet. He informed the owner who gave a loud guffaw in return,attracting the attention of the people in the hotel. There wasn't a single kind face. All looked like hungry wolves. The owner had said to him that he would gouge out his eyes. The author in panic removed his coat telling that the owner could keep it. The owner slowly started stripping him till his trousers. so the owner's idea was to strip him, gouge out his eyes and send him out naked. Even though he pleaded not to remove the trouser he had to but at that time a man came saying that he would pay the bill. The author was rescued by the unknown man.
