THE BATTLE OF PLASSEY

• murshid quli khan was succeeded by alivardi khan and alivardi khan by siraj-ud-daulah.
• when siraj-ud-daulah became the new nawab in 1756,he order the British to pay tax. he Aslo told the British to remove fortification of their calcutta factory.
• however, negotiation failed and the nawab attacked the English factory at kassimbazar, captured the company officials and established his control over the company's fort.
• siraj-ud-daulah drove the English out of calcutta for expanding fortifications and not paying trade duties. but the British sent from madras , their most trusted officer Robert Clive to solve the problem in bengal.
• Robert Clive decided to overthrow siraj-ud-daulah as he Aslo begun to favour the French. he plotted with mir jafar, commander -in chief of bengal, attacked siraj and won back calcutta. he Aslo got back the right to fortification. this was the battle of plassey. in the battle, siraj was defeated and killed.
