Cross cutting social differences are those social differences in which it is difficult to find out which group is against the other. These groups may have similarviews of some subject and different views on others. Such differences do not lead to social conflict and, instead, encourage diversity and promote unity. For example, inthe Netherlands, Christianity is the main religion and there are divisions based on whether people are Catholic or Protestant. However, there is no major economic difference between Catholicsand Protestants. Hence, differences in religion and class overlap each other. As a result, there is no major conflict between them.
