We should use coal and  petroleum judiciously because:

1.Reserves of coal and petroleum are Limited.
2. It takes millions of years for nature to replenish these resources.
3. Combustion of fossil fuels pollutes the atmosphere by forming oxides of carbon, nitrogen and sulphur.
4. Excess amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere increase global warming.
