Give reasons for the following: H2^+ and H2^- ions have same bond order but H2^+ ions are more stable than H2^-.

H2+ is more stable because it has vacant antibonding molecular orbital.
A molecule having more no. of antibonding molecular orbital will have more energy and thus less stability .....and vice versa
