observation:
The smell of hot sizzling food
reaches you several metres
away, but to get the smell from
cold food you have to go close.

The above phenomenon was observed due to the diffusion of aroma of hot sizzling food in the air, and hence reaching the other side, but it takes time for the aroma of cold food because the particles were much slower than the aroma of hot food.

We know, Diffusion is the spontaneous movement of particles from higher concentration to lower concentration. This is a passive movement, no external hand is needed. The diffusion depends upon many factors, and one of them is the temperature.

The hot sizzling food have hotter particles i.e. at higher temperature, accordingly their kinetic energy is also higher as compared to that of cold food. We know,

\large{ \rm{ \underline{ \red{kinetic \: energy \:  \propto \: temperature}}}}

So, the particles of hot food has more kinetic energy ,than the the particles of cold food. More the kinetic energy, more is the movement of particles, thus it also influeneces the diffusion i.e. higher mixing with air. Also, the air near the hot food help in increasing the rate of diffusion, this the smell can easily mix with the air and reaches the other corner.
