Give reasons for the following observations:

(i) Ionic compounds in general have high melting and boiling points.

(ii) Highly reactive metals cannot be obtained from their oxides by heating

them with carbon.​

▶️ (i) Ionic compounds have high melting and boiling points due to strong force of attraction between oppositely charged ions.

▶️(ii) It is because these metals themselves are strong reducing agents. Therefore, cannot be reduced by reducing agent like carbon
