Answer:
1. The high density of most metals is due to the tightly packed crystal lattice of the metallic structure.
2. The energy is transferred throughout the rest of the metal by the moving electrons. Metals are described as malleable (can be beaten into sheets) and ductile (can be pulled out into wires). This is because of the ability of the atoms to roll over each other into new positions without breaking the metallic bond.
3. The metals are solid at room temperature because their melting point can't be reached at room temperature. because they have strong inter molecule forces of attraction which cannot be broken at energy provided at room temperature.
4.Metals are composed of free flowing electrons that get excited on account of heat and electricity. Non metals on other hand do not have free flowing electrons and do not cause intermolecular vibrations making them the bad conductor of heat and electricity.
5.Malleability : Non-metals are not malleable i.e. sheets cannot be made from non-metals. Tensile strength : Non-metals do not have the property of tensile strength. Exception: Carbon fibre is as tensile as steel. Sonorous : Non-metals are non-sonorous, i.e., when struck with a hammer they do not produce sound.
