Work is the energy transfered to or from an object by means of any force acting on the object

(a) Workdone = Force x displacement

(b) when lifting a body, it is affected by acceleration due to gravity g

Taking m = mass of body
h = height through which the body is moved = displacement
F = m x g
Work done = m x g x h
